Email your tea bag folding questions, comments, or tips to teabagfolding@comcast.net. I don't always have time to answer individual questions, or I sometimes don't know the answer. I'll try to get as much info as possible posted here. If you have a tip or comment to add, please send it!
Lesley's Question: I've just made my first attempt at tea bag folding. What is the best way to
stick the pieces together?
I would like to use them in card making. Do I have to stick them straight
onto a card?
My Answer: I've done it a couple of different ways. You can cut out a
circle of paper, that is smaller than the finished medallion will be, and
glue your medallion to that, glue sticks work best. Then you end up with a
free standing medallion, when you turn it over, you'll see your circle of
paper. Glue it down to a card when you're ready to use it.
Some of the medallions can be glued, just one piece to the next, without
gluing them down to anything.
You can find more types of folds here:

This one is made to be free standing:

I don't have that fold on my site, because I had trouble making clear
instructions, hers are much better.
This one can also be made to be free standing. When you add each new kite, glue it to the previous kite instead of gluing it down to your card.

I like to make them free standing that way I can sit down and make a bunch
of medallions when I have time, and also see how they turn out before I glue
them to my project.
Visitor Question: I am looking at your site on how to create a tea bag medallion. I have done the first lesson and have progressed onto the second lesson. You say to glue one kite to the other but you do not say how, can you please explain this to me?
My Answer: This method doesn't work for the instructions in lesson 2, because the kites are placed side by side. If you want to make that medallion free standing, cut a small circle of paper and apply your kites to that instead of straight to the card. Make sure the circle of paper is smaller than the finished medallion, so it doesn't show.
Betty's Question: Some tea bag tiles have a cutout in one corner. I cannot find directions on how to fold them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My Answer: I don't have any of these types of tiles posted here, but you can find some by following the links listed under 'Off Site Links / Website Contributors' at the bottom of each page. Derek's site has a bunch of them. He emailed me recently to let me know that he had added even more of this type. I've never worked with them actually, but I believe that you work with them the same way as any other tile, except when you are making your kites, following the instructions at http://www.teabagfolding.circleofcrafters.com/basickitefold.html, make sure the upper most point is the part with the cut out. Then follow the rest of the instructions as normal.
Gwyneth's Comment: I`m from Wales in the UK and my sister gave me a book on teabag folding last Christmas. Well I looked at it - and decided that it was not for me to do........ far too fiddly I thought. Then I found your site, and my imagination was in flight....... what lovely patterns to print, and free, so I`ve started doing this craft, thankyou so much!
By the way, I have been printing the tiles on tracing paper and Pergamano paper(though the latter is a bit pricey), as it is easy to fold and looks really good. Sometimes I highlight the edges of the squares with glitter.
My Comment: I love the idea of using glitter around the edges, I bet it looks great on the fancy papers!
